Robertet inaugurates a new dispensary in Madagascar

29 September 2022

On 25 September, the Robertet Group, through its NGO BNS Care in Madagascar, inaugurated a new dispensary for the village of Andravinambo in the SAVA region, where the Group’ vanilla production cooperative is located. Stéphanie Groult, the Group’s Purchasing Director, attended the event.

New spacious premises, equipped with water and electricity and adapted to medical standards as well as the necessary medical equipment were constructed. This dispensary in the village will allow the inhabitants to receive medical care on the spot without having to travel to the city. Nurses work full time on site and a doctor will come several times a week. Basic care, treatment of serious illnesses, childbirth and pediatric services will be provided.

Robertet guarantees the producers’ cooperative in the SAVA region a stable income, fair prices and long-term commitments to guarantee the purchase of vanilla beans. Our vanilla chain has helped to revive an entire economy in this remote village and to improve the living conditions of its inhabitants, starting with the schooling of their children. As a result, Robertet was the first to be audited and certified Fair For Life for its vanilla sector! In addition, 170 hectares of the farm are dedicated to organic farming and are Ecocert certified.

The NGO BNSCARE was created in 2018 in Antalaha with the following mission: The improvement of the socio-economic environment and living conditions of the population to strengthen its capacity to produce a beautiful vanilla and this, in all serenity. The economic growth of the population through rural, human, and environmental development. And above all, support for women and men in economic diversification and access to education and health care for a continuous improvement of daily living conditions.

Our NGO aspires to be a referral organization for the disadvantaged communities of the SAVA region to improve the conditions and quality of life for everyone. To do this, BNSCARE works in different aspects of daily life such as the socio-economic environment, living conditions of the population, and poverty.

In 2018 BNSCARE allowed the rehabilitation of the public elementary school of ANDRAVINAMBO and since then, proceeds to the distribution of school supplies at the beginning of each school year to all the children attending school.

In 2020, we have rebuilt the pre-school. From a small unsecured wooden hut, the school was equipped with concrete block walls from floor to ceiling, creating a robust building that will last over time.
